Let’s talk about children. What do you want them to have? Well, there are some great toys out there, but most of them have very limited functionality, and most of them require batteries and electricity. I’ve seen some great ideas for remote-controlled car racetracks, but the batteries are really expensive, and the car is bulky. What about something a little simpler, something that’s meant to be played with for hours at a time? Creating a playspace is a critical component to the success of your family. It needs to be fun, exciting, and full of things to do so that it will be something your children look forward to coming to every day.
What is a playspace?
Whenever you think of play space, do you visualize a place where your children can play and have fun? Or do you picture a room they’ll be locked in while you work? A play space is a specially designed room for children to play in. Parents want a play space so that their children can play and be creative, but play spaces are not for everyone. Some parents want to keep their children confined in their rooms so that their kids don’t get in trouble or cause problems.
Playspaces are places for people to interact outside of the house (and at home). It can be a yard, a park, a coffee shop, a beach, a public library, a local art gallery, a baseball field, a local school, or any other public area.
The play space is the most popular room in the home for kids – and with good reason. It’s a place for imaginative play, the art of pretending and creating your own stories. It’s where kids can build forts and castles, build toys using Lego pieces, hide and seek, and spend time with their friends. It’s a place where kids learn how to be kids.
Benefits of having playspaces for children
As you know, every child needs a space that is all his or her own. Your child will love thousands of toys, but space can be a problem. So what do you do? Hire a housekeeper? Can you afford that? Or can you afford to buy a playspace? We all know how important it is for our children to have an area to play in. You see it at school, in the park, in grandma’s house, in the garage, and it’s even in the backyard. You may not know that the playspace is not just for the child; it’s also for the parents. A playspace can help decrease stress, improve self-esteem, and help you get your work done, too.
Before children, we rented. After the children, we bought. But even after we’ve leaped homeownership, we’re still renting. The benefits of having a space to play for children are endless.
And if you think that having a playspace is just so much fun and is a great way to motivate your kids to be more active, here are some facts and benefits of having one in your house:
- Playspaces promote social interaction and help to foster emotional and behavioural development.
- It keeps your children active and engaged.
- Studies show that children who play outside for at least 30 minutes a day are more likely to do better in school and with their overall development.
- Having a playspace also provides a haven for your child to play when no one is home.
- It boosts the child’s self-esteem and encourages them to try new things.
If you have ever been to a playground, you know how fun it is for the kids to be out of the house, running through the slides and climbing on the jungle gym. But when it’s time to come inside and go to bed, what do you do? Let’s face it, most of us have to deal with that. If you’re like most parents, you want the best for your child– you want them to have a happy childhood and grow up to be healthy and happy adults. What can you do to help your children have happy days and have fun?
